There are roughly two ways to offer virtual cinema: through a direct provider or an external central platform. In the first case, you show films directly to your audience, via your own website or platform. In the second case, you use an existing platform, such as Picl (the Netherlands), MioCinema (Italy) and MojeEkino.pl (Poland) – the names mentioned several times in our survey.
While cinemas choose both forms to strengthen their relationship with audiences and increase their offerings, film distributors see a difference in the value the platforms bring them. According to them, generating data is an important reason for choosing a direct provider, where an external central platform is instead seen as a more important way to strengthen the connection with audiences and raise additional revenue.
